This weekend the Lawrenceville School played host to the 5th annual Global Team Travel Tournament. The tournament was held over two days with both boys and girls competing in 19 brackets.
Over 70 teams played over 10 fields spread across the beautiful school campus in South Jersey. The tournament powered by Global Team Events and PUMA, followed the new USSF soccer mandates, allowing teams to play 7v7 9v9 and 11v11 ahead of the Fall season – for some teams this was the first time they played within the new guidelines.
Head coach of Hannover boys from New Jersey, Mark Gillot was pleased with the format and organisation of the tournament as it allowed his two teams to play within the new USSF guidelines, he said:
“With the upcoming changes to youth soccer across America, this tournament was a great way to introduce my two teams to the changes, for some it was the first time they were able to play 7v7 and 9v9 sided games. This tournament was an invaluable learning experience and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
The tournament featured teams from up and down the East Coast and was played in great spirits as the weather held on Saturday to ensure everyone was able to complete their brackets. Here is a full list of bracket winners, congratulations to all our champions and well done to all who participated.
