Traveling abroad to watch and play soccer is a unique cultural experience. Soccer is the world’s most popular sport, with 25 million children participating every year, and despite the language barriers, many understand the language of the sport.
While two of our best sports tours are months away, it’s never too early to start planning.
In 2017, F.C. Global will participate in two international soccer tournaments in Sweden and Italy. Check out the information below to get a head start on planning:
The San Marino Cup
San Marino is a small, independent microstate located within the Italian border. While not considered a part of Italy, San Marino only spans 24 square miles, so Italy is always within reach.
The San Marino Cup will take place from July 7 - 18, 2017, and will feature 100 teams from 18 countries across four continents. The tournament will be held on 15 pristine pitches, and training time will be provided at the Antares Sports Hotel.
In addition to playing soccer against teams from around the world, there will be a number of scheduled group tours to places all over Italy. You’ll be able to explore Milan, Italy’s fashion capital; Verona, where Romeo and Juliet was set; Rimini Riviera, Italy’s largest resort along the shore; Rome, the Eternal City and Italy’s capital; as well as the entirety of San Marino, the oldest republic in existence.
The Gothia Cup
The Gothia Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament in the world, representing the largest sample of international teams of any other international tournament. The Gothia Cup tour will take place from July 12 - 23, 2017, and will span across multiple countries.
In addition to the tournament itself in Gothenburg, Sweden, participants on this tour will also get to visit the home of FC Copenhagen in Denmark, go to training sessions in Malmö, and go sightseeing in both Malmö and Gothenburg.
Whichever tour you choose, know that you won’t be disappointed. Global Team Events plans some of the best sports tours in the world, that include a balance of training, competition, and a rich immersion in culture and history.
